For Immediate Release:

That Mennonite Joke now airing on Bravo and online!

That’s right! That Mennonite Joke is now airing on Bravo Canada and is available to view for FREE on the Bravo online portal! Winner of the Stories from Home Pitch Competition at Gimli Film Festival 2014, and winner of BravoFACTUAL support 2014, this docu-comedy has played at a half dozen Canadian festivals/events including Atlantic Film Festival, Gimli Film Festival, Shärt International Comedy Film Festival, Freeze Frame International Film Festival, and winning Best Short Documentary at the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival. Visit http://mennojoke.com for more details.

In September 2013, Bravo Canada introduced BravoFACTUAL awards to be granted by the BravoFACT(Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) jury for the production of short form documentary projects. Following the same mandate as for scripted BravoFACT shorts, BravoFACTUAL projects will reflect themes, large and small, produced by directors and producers from across Canada. And in 2014, Prairie Boy Productions’ That Mennonite Joke was selected for funding.

That Mennonite Joke is a funny, surprising and insightful documentary-comedy hybrid film that explores humour in Mennonite culture through the perspective of comedian Matt Falk. As Matt prepares for his first live TV comedy special, he wonders if his Mennonite culture is funny enough to include more in his act.  He takes a comedic walkabout through his heritage speaking with Mennonite humorists, authors, and entertainers such as Miriam Toews, Armin Wiebe, Corny Rempel, Leland Klassen and many more to gather material for his routine.

Matt Falk is a clean comedian who has performed on the biggest stages including the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas [placing 2nd!], Just For Laughs in Montreal, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and more! He is based in Niverville, Manitoba.

That Mennonite Joke was produced by Prairie Boy Productions for MTS TV Stories From Home, produced with a grant awarded by BravoFACT [Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent] a division of Bell Media Inc., and with the participation of Manitoba Film and Video Production Tax Credit, and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.  Additional support by Winnipeg Film Group, and Manitoba Film and Music.

The accompanying Mennonite Joke Book app can be downloaded on http://app.mennojoke.com/ for iPhone or iPad. The app is produced by Prairie Boy Productions and Electric Monk Media, and supported by On Screen Manitoba, Winnipeg Film Group and Manitoba Film & Music.
