MENNONITE JOKES MAKE ATLANTIC PREMIERE
“That Mennonite Joke” official selection at 2016 Atlantic Film Festival
Winnipeg, MB – Aug 24, 2016: The Atlantic Film Festival announces That Mennonite Joke as official selection in this year’s Festival by first time director Orlando Braun and produced by Jorge Requena Ramos.
The 36th annual Atlantic Film Festival takes place September 15-22, 2016 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. That Mennonite Joke will play Sunday September 18, 12:30pm at Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane as part of the program “Shorts: Canada and the World”.
Jason Beaudry, Atlantic Film Festival Program Director was delighted to select the film and finds “That Mennonite Joke is both a lighthearted investigation of a people’s brand of humour and a revealing look at an unexpectedly vibrant culture.”
Stand-Up Comedian Matt Falk takes us on a surprisingly hilarious and insightful journey through his Mennonite heritage to peek behind the veil and see the humour in That Mennonite Joke.
That Mennonite Joke was produced by Prairie Boy Productions for MTS TV Stories From Home, produced with a grant awarded by BravoFACT [Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent] a division of Bell Media Inc., and with the participation of Manitoba Film and Video Production Tax Credit, and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. The film was the winner of the Stories From Home Pitch Competition at Gimli Film Festival 2014, and winner of BravoFACTUAL support. Drawing attention across North America, this journey has also been written about in Menno World Review and Canadian Mennonite.
